There are just some weddings that I love for the sole reason that you can see how happy and in love the couple is. I think this wedding from Brita Photography is one of those weddings. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore all of the gorgeous flowers and sweet, handmade details, but the bride, Bailey, just looks so very happy! She’s beautiful, of course, but you can see how she glows just because it’s her wedding day. I love it!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My mother was my rock during all aspects of the planning process. I get my creativity from my mother, so it was easy to bounce ideas off each other. She stood up for my vision when I had doubts, and she was my voice of reason. Our wedding wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the combined effort of our families. My mom, sister, brother-in-law, grandmother, then fiancé and I created assembly lines to finish the favors, invitations, save the dates, hotel bags and programs. It was truly a joint effort.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Luckily our venue included most of the vendors. When we searched for the perfect photographer, videographer and hair/make-up artist I looked for pure raw talent in their given field. It was important to me that those vendors were also organized, professional and personable. Every professional who was involved in our wedding from the wedding coordinator to the photographer to the DJ were amazing individuals. It made our wedding that much sweeter to be surrounded by thoughtful, talented people.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
My inspiration cannot be pinpointed to one specific thing. I was inspired by our venue’s, The Hazlehurst House, antique southern charm. As well as the many hues of purple, my favorite color. My main inspiration came from my late grandmother’s wedding dress. It had that 1950s elegance that can’t be described. From the silk skirt with lace panels to the lace bodice, the dress was a dream. I even had a portion of her dress wrapped around my bouquet. The southern roots of the venue along with the elegance of my grandmother’s dress inspired our “Elegant Southern” wedding.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Wow that is a hard question!! Again I am afraid I cannot pick one favorite thing about our wedding. The flowers were absolutely breathtaking. After only a handful of meetings with the florist, he managed to capture my vision beyond what I had ever imagined. I also absolutely loved my wedding dress. It was the dress I had also dreamed of wearing. A talented seamstress in a small wedding boutique created the cap sleeves from scratch! Again she took my vision to a completely different level. Above all my favorite thing about our wedding was being surrounded by our friends and family. I have never felt such love and support as I did on that special day.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
It is inevitable that something will not go as planned on your wedding day or in the planning process. When that mishap occurs take a deep breath, take your moment then move on. At the end of the day you will be married to your best friend, and that is all that matters. Also, a friend gave me this next tip. At the reception, grab your husband’s hand and stand in a corner and take it all in. Take in your family and friends dancing the night away, take in how lucky you are to have the support and love from everyone in that room and take in the moment – you are married!
I can’t agree with her advice more. It’s so true: something will probably go wrong, but you’re getting married! As long as you are husband and wife at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. I love that I can really tell what a meaningful day it was for everyone involved through these pictures, and she really is so right. Those flowers are incredible!
